Nigel Allison Art Gallery, Ballymena

Nigel mainly paints country scenes and coastly subjects from around North Antrim and Donegal, and likes to capture the atmosphere and sense of movement in his paintings and also create a painterly feel on the canvas.

His paintings like to capture depth and tonal balance; he feels it is also very important to have a strong composition and perspective within painting, which keeps it interesting to the viewer. Nigel also enjoys painting country scenes of farming life gone by in Co. Antrim and seascapes of the North Antrim Coast, and also the Mountains of Donegal, in Ireland.

About Nigel
Born in 1971 at Kellswater, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, from an early age Nigel developed drawing and painting skills, and went to college in Belfast in 1990 and studied Graphic Design. After leaving college, he spend 3 years working as a Graphic Designer for a large advertising company near Belfast, and has always enjoyed painting and was keen to exploit his talent as an artist.
