Energy Assessments
EPC
An energy performance certificate (UK) is a legal requirement whenever a property is built, sold or rented and will show you how energy efficient your property is and give you a rating from A-G (A being the best and G being the worst). The document will also include recommendations on measures that would make your home more energy efficient, along with estimated costs for implementing the changes and potential savings you could make.

SBEM
Simplified Building Energy Model which is a Software tool that provides an analysis of a buildings energy consumption in accordance with Park L of the Building Control Regulations.

The following information is often required to provide the full calculation - types of heating, lighting, ventilation/air conditioning used, buildings construction plans, use of any renewable energy resources and the uvalues of the building fabric.

Air
Air Leakage testing or Air Tightness Testing is the process of measuring the amount of conditioned (heated or cooled) air leaking from a building through uncontrolled ventilation.

A fan is installed into the external envelope of the building and supply's air into or extracts air out of the property which creates a pressure difference.

Thermal Imaging
A thermal imaging survey of a building fabric identifies the location of air leaks and shows thermal insulation defects. It is carried out with a thermal imaging camera and can spot any hot or cold spots in an image. It is now used a lot more within the building industry so it is ideal for detecting damp, thermal bridging, heat loss and air leaks. It can also be great for detecting any poor insulation and or inefficient heating systems.

Energy Audit
These are a form of assessment which can determine a way in which energy has been used/is being used throughout a property. This is to make sure energy arrangements are effective and are being followed correctly. It will also help to identify any opportunities to improve energy management and its performance.

Room Integrity Testing
A room or enclosure where a fire suppression system has been installed will require a RIT to be carried out once a year.

This test will confirm if the room or enclosure is properly sealed allowing the suppression gas agent to extinguish any potential fire successfully.

Spillage Testing
Combustion spillage is a term used to describe unwanted flow of combustion gases into your home. The quantities involved are usually small however, combustion spillage is a serious health hazard and should be dealt with asap.

Sealing
Our team can undertake taping and membrane works as part of complete Air Tightness install and testing package. See below typical spec of works shown but can vary depending on the Air Test target.

Atbec Ltd are one of only a few companies that can carry out testing and analysis to understand what retrofitting is required. Retrofitting will transform your house into modern energy efficient home that will greatly reduce energy costs. Updating various elements to improve its energy efficiency. Reducing the level of heat loss so your property will retain heat for much longer. Updating heating systems and or controls, windows, insulation to more efficient renewable systems ie PV Panels, Heat Pumps or Mechanical Ventilation.

Building Energy Rating
A Building Energy Rating is the first step on your energy journey. It measures the overall energy performance of the building and is legally required to satisfy the requirements under the Energy Performance of Building Directives (EPBD). Our energy assessors work with you to provide a BER Certificate that complies with the Building Regulations Park L and NZEB Regulations.

Ventilation Validations
Atbec Ltd are one of the few companies that can carry out performance testing of residential ventilation systems. Ventilation testing measures the airflow rates of polluted air being extracted from your home and the required fresh air supplied to your home. We conduct a quality check to ensure the system in your home has been correctly balanced and commissioned by the installer. This will give you peace of mind that the ventilation system is functioning as intended and providing clean, fresh air.
