Workers 'Among Highest Paid In The World'

Staff in Irish companies are among the highest paid in the world, a report by Swiss Bank UBS has revealed.

The bank's prices and earnings report revealed that workers in Dublin earned the tenth highest net wages of all the 73 cities involved in the survey.

Following the deduction of taxes and social security, workers in the capital were found to have the fourth highest net hourly wages in the world.

The survey of 73 cities found that employees in Copenhagen, Zurich, Geneva and New York had the highest gross wages, with Zurich and Geneva topping the rankings in the international comparison of net wages.

The report also revealed that Dublin workers enjoyed the fourth-strongest purchasing power, behind Zurich, Sydney and Luxembourg.

UBS's report is published every three years. The study is based on data collected in the 73 cities between March and April of this year.
