Fresh McDaid Arrest Made

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine father-of-four Kevin McDaid.

Detectives detained the man in the town last night. This brings the total number of arrests over the killing to 25.

Mr McDaid was beaten to death by a loyalist mob in May. The 49-year-old Catholic was attacked following a contentious Ranger versus Celtic football match.

It is believed troubled flared over the raising of republican flags in the national Heights estate.

Another man, 46-year-old Damian Fleming, was was also seriously assaulted in attack and remains critical in hospital.

Ten men have been charged in connection with the attacks, seven of them with murder and attempted murder.

Two men have been charged with attempted murder.

Arrest Made In James Griffin Murder Investigation
Garda investigating the murder of James Griffin have arrested a man in his late teens. Mr Griffin (26) died in the early hours of Sunday 16 November, last year. Garda in Dublin arrested a man on Tuesday in connection with their investigation. He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1884. No further details have been released.

Arrest Over Murder Of Irish Couple In South Africa
A man is reported to have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Irish man and his wife in South Africa. It is believed that the man is the 75-year-old father of the woman who was killed. The 53-year-old Irish man, who has been named in reports as Kevin McGuirk, is understood to have lived in South Africa for ten years.

Man Held In RUC Murder Probe
Detectives investigating the murder of a policeman in 1981 have made an arrest. The suspect has been taken to Antrim police station's Serious Crime Suite for questioning. The 54-year-old man has been arrested and questioned about the murder of RUC Reserve Constable John Proctor almost 30 years ago.

Ballyfermot Murder Detectives Make Arrest
A fatal shooting last summer has led to an arrest today. Gardaí in Ballyfermot investigating the murder of Anthony Cannon in Ballyfermot on 17th July 2009 have arrested a man in his early 30s this morning. They said that the man is being detained in Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Arrest Follows Second Murder
There has been an arrest this morning after a bread delivery man was shot dead at a petrol station on the Ennis Road in Limerick. A 29-year-old man has been held in connection with the murder of the delivery man - believed to have been in his 30s.
