On-Run Child Sex Offender Found
A convicted sex offender, who this week evaded authorities in the North for the second time in three years, has been arrested in The Republic.
Police had earlier launched a manhunt to trace Paul Hunter Redpath, who is believed to pose a serious risk vulnerable children.
Redpath was living on probation in Northern Ireland at a agreed address, however, he recently fled the approved accommodation.
Police have failed to say how long he was missing.
Originally from Stranraer in Scotland, 37-year-old Redpath was asked by police to hand himself over.
This morning he was detained by gardaí in the Wicklow area. The PSNI reportedly want him to face court in Northern Ireland.
Redpath breached the terms of his probation conditions back in 2006, and was later rearrested in Dublin.
He was convicted of offences against two girls in 2005 and sentenced to three years in prison.
South Belfast MLA Carmel Hanna has urged NIO Security Minister Paul Goggins to review the case.
"I will also be querying what action he will be taking at present and what lessons are to be learned for the future to prevent cases like this happening again," she said.
