Tánaiste Disappointed Over Selling Of SR Technics

The Tánaiste has expressed disappointment at SR Technics decision to sell part of its operation at Dublin airport, after it was revealed two groups are interested in buying the assets of aircraft maintenance firm.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan has said state agencies would continue to do what they can to save jobs at the firm.

Chief Executive of the Irish Development Agency, Barry O'Leary, revealed yesterday two groups were still interested in buying the assets of aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics.

Speaking yesterday, Mr O'Leary said there was hope that more jobs could be saved as a result. The company, which is based at Dublin Airport, is due to close in August with the loss of more than 1,100 jobs.

Unions at the troubled aircraft maintenance company SR Technics are meeting this morning after the Swiss-owned company said last night "a preferred bidder" had been chosen for its landing gear and auxiliary power unit (APU) operations.

The Swiss-based group said that it received several bids to acquire all or part of the Irish operations.
