Publicans Death 'Was Murder'

After the shock discovery of the body of a publican in Co Offaly, a murder investigation has been launched.

The body was discovered by a member of the man's family, at a public house owned by the dead man in Daingean.

Gardaí said today that Matt Farrell died after he received an injury to his head after a post mortem examination was carried out on his body by the Deputy State Pathologist yesterday.

Mr Farrell received blunt force trauma to the head according to the findings of Dr Michael Curtis.

The National Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting local gardaí.

They said that up to 100 officers are now working on the case.

Mr Farrell's body was found on the floor of his home in Daingean yesterday, his hands tied behind his back.

A small sum of money was taken according to gardaí.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Investigation Launched After Body Found In Carlow
The body of a woman has been found in a house in Carlow. Gardaí say that the body of a 37-year-old woman was discovered at a house in the Craigcullen area of Carlow at about 21:45 on Sunday. The body remains at the scene to allow for a forensic examination. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.
