Murdered Man Warned By Gardaí

A man found murdered in Dublin on Monday had been warned by Gardaí his life was under threat, it has emerged.

Father of one David Lynch, 25, was shot three times in the head in the Coolock area of the capital, and left to die on waste ground behind the Newtown apartments near Belcamp Lane.

Lynch was known to Gardaí and had convictions for drugs, robbery and theft. He was also a suspect in a shooting last weekend, where a man was shot in the leg in the Coolock area and is still being treated in hospital.

A post mortem on his body is due to be carried out later this morning at Beaumont Hospital.

Fine Gael Justice Spokesperson Charlie Flanagan said the killing highlighted the huge number of criminals getting away with murder in Ireland.

Lynch was the 10th person to be shot dead in the capital so far this year, and Mr Flanagan said just seven convictions had resulted from almost 100 gangland killings in recent times and the situation should not be allowed to continue.
