Gang Link To Gruesome Dutch Canal Find

An horrific find in Holland is being linked to gangland activity in Ireland as police in the Republic and their Dutch counterparts investigate the murder of an Irishman whose dismembered body was found in Amsterdam.

The remains of Keith Ennis, originally from the Walkinstown area of Dublin, were discovered in the Dutch capital three weeks ago.

Irish police said the 30-year-old was facing drugs and firearms charges in Dublin when he absconded.

Irish and Dutch police are now trying to establish where he was killed.

Mr Ennis was only identified through his DNA and fingerprints.

Police said the killing of the alleged former arms and drugs trafficker, whose body was found in an Amsterdam canal, had been ordered by an Irish gangland boss.

The gruesome discovery has brought the Dublin gangland death toll to 11 in 2009.

Gardái sources said they believed Ennis was abducted and killed on the orders of a gangster with an extremely violent reputation.
