Hunt For Post Office Robber Launched

A hunt has been launched for a man who attempted to rob a post office in Cork.

Gardái at Gurranabraher are appealing for the publics' assistance in relation to the attempted robbery of Grenagh Post Office, Blarney, Co. Cork on Wednesday the February 25 at approximately 2.13pm.

During the incident, a lone male entered the Post Office with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the Post Master. He was unsuccessful and fled the scene empty handed.

No shots were discharged and no one was injured. He is described as wearing a blue coloured boiler suit, a bright coloured hooded top and gloves. He was of slim build and wore a balaclava.

Gardai are particularly interested in information about a car believed to be used in the course of this incident, a black Ford Escort, 96 C 1368, which was later located a short distance away from the scene.

In addition, Gardái have not ruled out the possibility that a bicycle may have been used.

Anyone with information about this car or the raider is asked to contact the Gardai at Gurranabraher on 021-4946200, the Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Gardái Station.
