Man Arrested Over Corcoran Disappearance

A man has been arrested this morning in connection with the disappearance of a pensioner.

Shortly after 8.00am today, Gardaí in Bandon investigating the disappearance of Ann Corcoran from County Cork arrested a 49-year-old male on suspicion of murder.

Ms Corcoran, a 60-year-old widow, hasn't been heard from since telephoning a friend on January 19th.

Dozens of volunteers are helping in the search around the Bandon and Kilbrittain areas.

During the initial investigation, specialist forensic experts were called in to examine Ms Corcoran's car, which was found abandoned in Old Chapel last Wednesday.

The arrested man has been detained under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in Bandon Garda Station.

According to a Gardaí spokesman, the search and investigation is continuing.
