Gardaí Arrest Five Over Heroin Find

Five people have been arrested and a large amount of heroin has been seized following a gardaí investigation into Dublin's criminal gangs.

As part of an ongoing operation against organised criminal activity, gardaí from the organised crime unit of N.B.C.I. stopped two vehicles in the Ballyfermot and Clondalkin area of Dublin over the weekend at 7.30pm.

After a short search carried out by officers, heroin with a potential street value in excess of €3m was seized.

A total of five people were arrested, including four men ranging from 17 years to late 30s and one female aged 18 years.

They are currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station and Clondalkin Garda Station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

All five people are due to appear at Dublin District Court this morning charged in relation to the incident.

Arrest Over SAS Captain's Murder
The police in the North have arrested a man in connection with the killing of an undercover British army officer over 30 years ago. The suspect, aged 57, was detained by officers from the Serious Crime Branch in south Armagh and taken for questioning over the abduction and murder of Robert Nairac.
