Passenger Stops Flight After Spotting Crack

There was very litle 'craic' on an Irish flight this week when a teenage passenger halted an Aer Lingus departure after he spotted a crack in one of the wings.

Alex Prichodko looked on as the jet he was about to depart in from Chicago made a fleeting collision with an adjacent plane as it taxied along the runway while on his way to visit family in Ireland.

The collision left a crack on the planes 'winglet', the upturned part of the tip of the main wing of the aircraft, and Alex immediately contacted a member of the cabin crew.

After seeing the damage for herself, the flight attendant contacted the pilot and the plane was temporarily grounded with the plane sent in for repairs.

An Aer Lingus spokeswoman later confirmed the aircraft had suffered minor damage to a winglet. The incident is currently under investigation by the Aer Lingus Air Safety Office.
