Three Held After Meath Explosives Find

It has been revealed that a quantity of explosives and detonators were discovered in a car stopped in Co Meath.

The seizure followed an operation carried out by gardaí last night,

Both uniform and detective police officers from Navan and Kells were responsible for stopping a car near Kells.

They said today that three males were arrested on the outskirts of the town at approximately 11.30pm last night, (Wednesday).

This followed a search of the car that uncovered a stash of bomb-making equipment.

The three men were arrested under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act and are now detained at Navan and Kells Garda Stations, which means they can be held for up to 72 hours.

It is understood they are aged 18, 24 and 32.

Meanwhile, the overall operation is still ongoing this morning.

Meath Truck Kills 63-Year-Old
A 63-year-old man has been pronounced dead on arrival at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan after a road accident on Wednesday morning. He died after he was struck by a truck at Millbrook, Oldcastle, Co Meath at 7.30am. Three Injured And Three Arrested In Longford Car Chase
Three people required hospital treatment following a high-speed car chase in Longford on Saturday night. Gardai said a patrol car was carrying out a routine circuit of the town when it tried to stop a car. However, the car sped off at speed and gardai gave chase. The chase ended when the suspects car crashed at Goshen cross outside Longford.

Two Arrested After M50 Car Chase
Two men have been arrested following a car chase on the M50. Gardaí have said that a man and a woman had travelled to a car park in Naas in order to meet with another person about selling a silver BMW. It is understood that as the BMW attempted to leave, the car was blocked by another car and an SUV.

Appeal For Witnesses To Bank Robbery
Further details have emerged following a robbery of a Bank of Ireland branch in Co Meath. Gardaí at Kells are appealing for information in relation to a robbery, which occurred at the Bank Of Ireland, Oldcastle, at approximately 5pm yesterday.

Gardaí have seized a car and a boat during a search operation in Co Meath. As part of an on-going operation carried out under Operation Thor into organised crime in the Eastern Region, Gardaí searched a house in Rassilagh, Oldcastle, Co Meath on Tuesday.
