Ten Years For Father Who Sexually Abused Daughters
A Cork father who sexually abused two of his daughters over a period of years has been jailed.
The 59-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was today sentenced to 10 years, after pleading guilty to 12 counts of indecent assault and one of rape against the eldest child.
The court heard that the eldest of the girls felt she had been sexually abused every day from the age of six to 11 and was raped between the ages of seven and eight, while the youngest sister was sexually assaulted from the ages of six to 10.
As well as the sexual abuse, the girls were subjected to humiliation and physical abuse such as Chinese burns.
In announcing his sentencing, Mr Justice Paul Carney said he took into account the breach of trust involved, the age of the girls, the multiplicity and time-span of the offences, the sadistic cruelty involved and the effect on the victims.
He sentenced him to 10 years for the rape, 18 months for one of the sexual assaults and four years for the other sexual assaults, all the run concurrently.
The man has also been placed on the sex offenders' register.

Chun Ming Chen of Glanmire, Co Cork, pleaded guilty to 16 counts of intercourse with the girl and nine counts of sexual assault. Chen, who is also known as Jimmy, runs Ming's Chinese restaurant in Glanmire.

A 25-year-old man has been given a 10-year sentence for a sexual assault and violent attack on a woman in her own home. Andrius Pranaitis, of Dromin Road, Nenagh, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to attempted oral rape, aggravated sexual assault and burglary in Co Tipperary on August 14th, 2011.

The jury of eight men and four women at the Central Criminal Court, convicted the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his children, of 80 sexual offences against the three victims, yesterday.
