Taoiseach Meets Swedish Prime Minister

Taoiseach Brian Cowen is travelling to Sweden today to meet with Prime Minister Frerik Reinfeldt.

The Taoiseach is meeting with European Union Prime Ministers and had a meeting with Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen in Helsinki yesterday.

Mr Cowen and Mr Reinfeldt are expected to discuss the Lisbon Treaty, the international financial crisis and the climate change and energy package negotiations, as well as Sweden's priorities for the Presidency of the EU, which it will assume next July.

The Taoiseach is due to return to Dublin later today.

G8 Agree To End Payments To Terrorists
A tweet from British Prime Minister David Cameron has revealed that the G8 summit has reached an agreement to "stamp out" ransom payments to terrorists. His tweet read: "Another #G8UK result: leaders agree to stamp out ransom payments to terrorists, calling on companies to follow lead.
