Dublin Blaze Rescue Drama

There was high drama early this morning as four young children were rescued from a smoke-filled house in Dublin.

Dublin Fire Brigade said a woman was standing outside with one child when crews arrived at the scene shortly after 1.40am on Friday.

The other youngsters were taken from their upstairs bedrooms by firefighters. The children - aged four months, three, seven and eight - were all taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

They said that thick black smoke choked the property on Oak View Way, Clonsilla, after a small fire broke out in the kitchen.

A garda spokeswoman said officers in Blanchardstown were investigating the fire, which, at first indication, looks like having been caused by cooking - possibly a chip pan left unattended.
