Animal Rescuers Turn Up Drugs Ring

Animal rescuers found more than a few groggy moggies during a rescue attempt at a Dublin address on Monday, as they stumbled into a huge drug's cache.

Gardaí in Tallaght were called to the address in Tallaght, Dublin yesterday afternoon at approximately 3.30pm, after responding to a call for assistance from the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The DSPCA were attending a call concerning the maltreatment of animals at a premises in Mount Seskin, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

On arrival at scene Gardaí searched the outhouses and general area where the animals were being kept and recovered a large quantity of drugs and paraphernalia, including 10,000 ecstasy tablets worth €100,000, half a kilo of cocaine worth €35,000, and four and a half kilo's of cannabis resin worth €30,000.

Among the assorted drug paraphernalia, gardaí found a pneumatic press, weighing scales and a generator.

The search also turned up a gas-operated air pistol with several hundred steel ball bearings and a computer hard drive, which is being examined by Gardaí IT experts.

The DSPCA also seized 35 dogs including English Bull terriers, German Shepherds, an American Bull Dog and a Doberman.

No arrests have been made to date but investigations are continuing.

Gardaí Seize Firearms And Drugs From Dublin Apartment
A man and a woman, both in their 20s, have been arrested following the seizure of firearms and drugs during a search of a Dublin apartment. The Gardaí found cocaine with a street value of €100,000, ecstasy tablets worth €11,5 and cannabis worth €6,000 in the Clondalkin flat. Two shotguns and a ammunition were also seized during the evening raid.

Ten Teenagers Arrested Over Robberies And Assaults
Gardaí investigating a number of robberies and assaults in Dublin have arrested ten teenagers, aged 14 to 19. A series of raids were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Dublin and Louth by officers investigating robberies and assaults carried out in the Dublin area over the summer.
