Dublin Man Charged With Making Child Pornography

A Dublin man arrested following an international investigation has appeared in court charged with making child pornography.

A Gardai spokesman said the investigation had involved police forces in the North as well as other parts of the UK and the United States.

The man was arrested on Saturday after members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) from Harcourt Square searched the 47-year-old man's home in north county Dublin.

Computers belonging to the man were seized as part of an investigation into child pornography on the internet.

It is thought the case is the first time someone has been charged for making child pornography in Ireland.

The man who is believed to be a father was charged at Swords court with the production as well as the possession of child pornography.
