Man Shot In Cork Gun Attack

A man is in hospital after being shot while he was with his girlfriend and her children in Cork.

Gardai in the city are investigating the incident, which occurred in the Knocknaheeney area of the city at 9.10pm on Sunday night.

The male in his 30's was seriously injured when he was shot at a house at Kilmore Road. According to Gardaí, at least two shots were fired through the front downstairs window hitting the man in the body.

Gardaí believe that the gunman used a handgun in the attack and made his getaway in a waiting car driven by another man.

A Mercedes found burned out near Monard midway between Cork city and Blarney is thought to have been used by the gunman and his accomplice.

The car was found burned out before 11.00pm on Sunday night and garda technical experts will today carry out a forensic examination of the vehicle for clues as to who was behind the shooting.
