Marbella Shooting Victims 'Innocent'

On foot of news of a fatal Dublin pub shooting at the weekend, it has emerged that two of the three Irishmen injured in a similar shooting in the Spanish resort of Marbella late last week were just 'innocent bystanders'.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that only one of the trio injured appeared to have been a target.

The men are understood to have been attacked by a gunman in a nightclub, who made off on foot and then in a car.

One of the trio, a 39-year-old, remains in hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

The other two, thought to be aged 45 and 73, were treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged.

The shooting took place shortly before midnight on Thursday.
