Kildare's Oxegen 08 Traffic Plans Announced

Garda have announced traffic arrangements for the Oxegen 2008 Concerts at Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, County Kildare, from July 10 to 14.

Travel Routes:

Traffic from the M1, N2, N3 and N4 will travel via the M50 to the N7 (Dublin / Limerick Road). Traffic will travel from the N7 (Exit 9) into Naas and onto the Blessington Road via the R410 and onto Punchestown Racecourse.

Traffic travelling from South Dublin can travel via the N11, N81 (Tallaght / Blessington Rd) through Blessington, continue on the N81 southbound to Ballymore Eustace (R411) and the follow direction signage to Punchestown Racecourse.

Traffic from the South East (N9, N78, N80, M9) can travel via the Carlow or Athy routes through Kilcullen and onto the Naas Rd. At a landmark called Raffertys Mill (Naas to Kilcullen Rd) traffic will turn right and onto Punchestown Racecourse.

Traffic from the South/South West can travel via the N8, N7, M7 turning off at Newbridge exit (Ballymany Fly over) to Kilcullen and travel as set out at No 3.

Traffic from the South East/South/South West intending to use the Park and Ride Facility (South) will travel along the (N7, N8, N9, M9, N80) M7 northbound to Exit 10 and follow directional signage to the park and ride site.

Traffic from the Dublin/North intending to use the Park and Ride Facility (North) will travel along the N7 southbound to Exit 8 and follow directional signage to the park and ride site.

All routes will be clearly sign posted using VMS (Variable Message Signs) Boards and Event signage.

A one-way traffic system will operate throughout the event for all buses and minibuses only. All such vehicles will arrive at Punchestown via the Blessington Road/Beggars End route (R410) and will exit via the Ballymore Road/Watch House Cross route (R411). They will be permitted to enter the site via the Beggars End Gate (Gate 2) and exit via the Main Gate (Gate 3).

Bridge Fails To Navigate Troubled Water
Bad weather has held back plans to bring the Samuel Beckett Bridge on the latest stage of its journey. The advanced Bridge, which will span the Liffey will now be delayed after an abandoned attempt to ferry the Bridge to its mount at 2am this morning because of high winds. A fresh attempt will be made at high tide tomorrow morning.

Samuel Beckett Bridge Arrives In Dublin
The River Liffey's new bridge is to arrive in Dublin Port after its week-long journey from the Netherlands. The new bridge, which is due to be operational next year will link from Guild Street on the north quays to Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south.

Talks Aim To Resolve Air Traffic Control Dispute
Fresh talks to resolve a dispute between air traffic controllers and the Irish Aviation Authority are due to recommence today. The two sides, which met for talks at the Labour Relations Commission last week, will be holding face-to-face discussions over the coming days in an effort to resolve the dispute by Friday.

Sustainable Travel Projects Get Boost
Ireland's Public Transport Minister Alan Kelly has confirmed that €55 million will be spent on sustainable travel projects this year. The Minister confirmed the figure as he announced the 34 projects being carried out in regional cities under the jobs initiative.
