Thousands Stranded Following Rail Dispute

A dispute over drivers' rosters has left thousands of rail passengers stranded following the cancellation of the Cork-Dublin train services.

The travel chaos ensued following threats of industrial action by train-drivers, which went ahead on Thursday.

All trains from Kent Station in Cork to Dublin were cancelled until 5.30pm on Thursday evening with further disruptions expected later.

Dublin to Cork services were also subject to cancellation.

The 6.30 Dublin to Tralee train was also cancelled and Cork commuter routes were affected, leaving workers stranded.

Iarnród Eireann has warned that it would not be able to provide bus transfers to accommodate all passengers.
