Motorcycle Shooter Flees In Limerick

Gardaí in Limerick have launched an investigation into a drive-by shooting on the outskirts of the city yesterday.

In an attack reminiscent of a Hollywood action film, a motorcyclist drew up alongside a car travelling towards Ardnacrusha before opening fire on the vehicle.

Both vehicles subsequently fled the area at break neck speed leaving bemused onlookers stunned.

There are no reports of any injuries following the shooting.

Earlier this week, Gardaí implored government to take another look at new management structures for the city that has seen unprecedented levels of gang crime since the outbreak of a gang feud that has overshadowed Limerick in recent years.

Since the death of James Cronin, the 20-year-old gang member who was murdered in the city two weeks ago, violence in the city has ramped up, and gardaí are concerned the deployment of extra units in the area is not enough to subdue the threat of a portentous gang war.
