Transport Authorities Gear Up For Easter

Ireland’s Transport Authorities are preparing for the bank holiday weekend by issuing warnings and deploying extra staff.

Extra Garda are being deployed to deal with the expected increase in traffic, and extra units have been set up to specifically tackle drink driving.

The Road Safety Authority has also issued a warning to motorists reminding them of the dangers of driving while tired. The authority released research indicating that driver fatigue could be a contributory factor in one in five driver deaths in Ireland.

Irish Rail has warned its passengers to expect a busy weekend on its trains and to book tickets in advance. Meanwhile, Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports are also expecting a busy weekend with the return home of families and visits from holidaymakers, as passengers take advantage of the long weekend.
