Foiled Burglar Stabbed

A man has been taken to hospital with stab wounds after allegedly breaking into a family home.

Gardai are investigating the incident during which two men apparently broke into a house in North Dublin with a knife and a hammer.

A couple and three children were at home at the time and the man of the house managed to chase the suspected burglars from his property.

The chase continued into a neighbouring house where one of the burglars, a 21 year-old, was brought to the ground having suffered a stab wound.

Gardai arrived at the scene and the man was taken to Beaumont hospital where his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have as yet been made and an investigation is ongoing.
