Report Shows Rise In Cocaine Use

The National Advisory Committee on Drugs has found a significant rise in the number of Irish people using cocaine.

Its research shows the number of people taking cocaine in their lives has increased from 3% to 5% since 2003.

The report also found that less people said they had used it in the past month or the past year than in the 2003 survey.

The numbers of people using cannabis has increased from 17% to 21%.

One in four adults in Ireland has taken illegal drugs at some stage in their lives, with nearly twice as many men as women in that group. Young people rate highest in illegal drug use.
