Killer Sentenced For Wife's Murder

A 46-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of murdering his wife - twice.

Anton Mulder was found guilty at Dublin's Central Criminal Court on Thursday of the murder of his wife Colleen shortly before Christmas 2004 .

Mulder was found guilty of his wife's murder by a majority of 10 to two, following three hours of deliberations.

The court heard how Colleen Mulder, who was born in Bangor in Co. Down, was found upstairs in a bedroom of the house the couple were renting on December 17, 2004. She had been strangled.

Mulder had previously been found guilty of murder in May 2006, but the Court of Criminal Appeal overturned the verdict and a retrial was ordered after Ms Mulder's brother William Pollock was accused of having had 'inappropriate interaction' with the jury.
