Minister Opens New Train Station

Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has officially opened a new train station near Phoenix Park.

The station, which is on the grounds of the old racecourse, near the Navan Road, will be served by Maynooth line commuter trains.

Eighty-eight trains a day will serve the station and will link with Connolly, Tara Street, Pearse and Docklands stations.

Four more daily services are planned at the station, as well as additional trains on Sunday evenings.

'Plan Ahead' For St Patrick's Day Events This Weekend
Belfast City Council has outlined traffic and travel arrangements ahead of this Sunday's St Patrick's Day event in Belfast. A number of traffic diversions will be in place in and around Belfast city centre. Ahern Urges Resolution In Aer Lingus Dispute
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has urged both sides in the Aer Lingus dispute to work together to resolve their differences. A number of Aer Lingus pilots are facing suspension if they refuse to help train new staff recruited to work out of the airline's new hub in Belfast.
