Cork River Death Probed
The body of a woman has been recovered from the River Lee in Cork city.
The body of the 53-year-old woman was found in the river around 4am on Thursday morning and has now been taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem to take place. Preliminary results have reportedly indicated that she died of drowning.
The woman has not yet been named, but it is understood that she was originally from Gurranabraher in Cork city and she is believed to have been homeless.
It is thought that she was drinking with a man near to where her body was found.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the area of Albert Quay or Kennedy Quay on Wednesday evening or the early hours of Thursday morning to contact them.

Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Investigation Launched After Body Found In Carlow
The body of a woman has been found in a house in Carlow. Gardaí say that the body of a 37-year-old woman was discovered at a house in the Craigcullen area of Carlow at about 21:45 on Sunday. The body remains at the scene to allow for a forensic examination. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

Woman Dead After Cork Hotel Gas Leak
A woman has died in a suspected gas leak in a County Cork hotel at the weekend. Gardaí said they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body at a Hotel in Kinsale, Co Cork at around 2pm, yesterday. The woman's friends found the 30-year-old's body in an upstairs room at the hotel.
