An Post Warns Of UK Delays

An Post has warned of delays due to the UK postal workers dispute.

UK postal workers have started a second period of industrial action in their strike over pay and conditions.

Talks between the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Royal Mail continued over the weekend as strike loomed this week.

Last week around 130,000 members of the CWU walked out at noon on Thursday, after talks failed to reach an agreement with Royal Mail.

Deliveries are expected to be severely disrupted until late this week and Royal Mail has asked customers not to post mail in regular post boxes while strikes are taking place.

An Post said that due to strike action at Royal Mail, customers could expect some delays in mail posted both to and from the UK.

The strikes are being held in a dispute over pay and fears of job cuts, due to Royal Mail's modernisation reforms. Royal Mail insists that it needs to dramatically reform in order to be able to compete with increased competition.
