Galway Bank Raiders Net €50,000

Gardaí are investigating a robbery of a Securicor van at a bank in Galway this morning.

Two armed raiders wearing balaclavas held up the van in Mervue Industrial Estate. They threatened staff and customers with a gun and a knife before making off with €50,000.

The robbery occurred at around 11am and they escaped in a red car.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives in Galway.

Investigation Launched Into Galway Body Find
Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man's body in an apartment in Galway City. It is understood that the man's body was found by his flatmate on Monday. According to reports, the dead man is believed to be a 23-year-old from Tullamore in Co Offaly who was studying in Galway City.

Men Detained Over Galway Robbery
Gardaí are questioning two men in connection with an armed robbery on the outskirts of Galway city. The incident occurred last night at a petrol station on the Tuam Road. It is understood the men demanded cash from the till but were arrested by Gardaí as they attempted to flee the shop.

ESB Continuing To Work To Restore Power After Storm Lorenzo
ESB have restored power to some 12,000 homes, farms and businesses, affected by Storm Lorenzo, while work continues to restore power to 3,600 customers still without power. A clean-up operation is underway across the west and northwest following the storm on Thursday. According to reports, substantial flooding was experienced across Donegal.
