Police Officer Injured In Derry Disturbance

A PSNI officer suffered facial injuries during disturbances in Derry city on Tuesday night.

The officer was struck in the face with a missile in the Westland Street area around 9:45pm and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A number of missiles, including bottles, were also thrown at police who were called to investigate the incident.

Republicans Shoot Derry Police Officer
An off-duty police officer who was seriously injured in a shooting in Londonderry this morning has managed to drive himself from the scene. The incident happened at about 8.30am at Bishop Street in the city. The officer was leaving one of his children off at school when the shooting occurred.
