Siteserv Purchases Sierra For €46 million

Construction services firm Siteserv has acquired utilities service provider Sierra Communications Ltd for €46 million (£31 million).

Siteserv has agreed to pay €46 million on completion of the acquisition, out of which €41.4 million will be paid in cash and the remaining share issue at €0.59.

Brian Harvey, chief executive of Siteserv said: “We are delighted with the acquisition of Sierra which is a leader in the provision of utility and infrastructural services in Ireland. The acquisition of Sierra fits within the Siteserv strategy to develop into a broadly based site services group and re-emphasises our plans to grow the company both organically and through acquisitions.”

Sierra provides services to the power, telecommunications and civil engineering markets in Ireland.

It operates four sites at Nangor Road, Dublin 12, Dunboyne, Co Meath, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan and Spierstown, Co Donegal.

Gardaí Seize Two Million Contraband Cigarettes
A successful operation to net a huge haul of illicit tobacco products in Dublin has just been revealed. The joint operation was between the Garda Siocahana and the Irish Customs Service at Dublin Port. It has resulted in the detection and seizure of what are believed to be two million contraband cigarettes.

British Men Remanded Over €500M Cocaine Seizure
The three British men charged in connection with a €500 million cocaine seizure off the coast of West Cork have been remanded in continuing custody after Thursday's court appearance. Philip Doo, 52, Christopher Wiggins, 42, and David Mufford, 44 were in Kinsale District Court this morning facing charges under the Drugs Trafficking Act.

Cigarettes Seized In Laois
Revenue Commissioners have seized between eight and nine million contraband cigarettes in Co. Laois. It is understood that the cigarettes, which were valued at €3 million, were found in a container, which was wrongly delivered to an address in Durrow. It is believed that the container came from Spain and passed through Dublin Port.

Four Due In Court Over Largest Cocaine Seizure
Four men are due to appear in court today charged with the largest ever cocaine seizure in Ireland. The men, who all have addresses in the UK, are due to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday, charged with possession of cocaine and possession of the drug for sale or supply.
