Pensioner Treated After Dublin Gas Explosion
A man in his 70s is being treated in hospital for severe burns and smoke inhalation after a gas explosion at a Dublin city centre flat.
Fire crews and the ambulance service attended the fire at the Oliver Bond flat complex on Usher’s Quay.
A number of cars were damaged as they passed the explosion, which occurred at around midday and a Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said that the situation is now under control.
The area around the first floor flat has been sealed off and a Bord Gais emergency technician is at the scene.
An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.

Halloween Fire Safety Campaign Launched
Dublin Fire Brigade's Halloween Safety Campaign, 'Be Safe Been Seen' has been launched at Dublin Fire HQ by tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh. The Fire Brigade will work with Dublin Bus, An Garda Siochana and the DSPCA in an effort to inform young people about the dangers of illegal bonfires and fireworks.

Man Stable After Being Struck By Luas
A man struck by a Luas tram in south Dublin on Tuesday night is in a stable condition in hospital. The incident happened at Cheeverstown at about 20:15 on Tuesday, Dublin Fire Service have said. It is understood that an 18-year-old man was on the tracks between the Citywest and Cheeverstown stops when he was hit.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at an apartment complex in Dublin city on Wednesday afternoon. The apartments in Love Lane, Dublin 2, were evacuated when firefighters were called just after 14:30 yesterday.
