Army Ration Packs Come Under Fire

Irish farmers have objected to Brazilian beef being used in a quantity of ration packs destined for use by the Irish army.

The Irish Farmers Association has called on the Irish Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea to investigate the procurement of ration packs from a British company that had used Brazilian beef in the meals.

It was confirmed that a small number of ration packs were believed to be involved and a Defence Force spokesperson said that the matter would be investigated, even though Brazilian beef was safe.

The IFA branded the use of beef from Brazil to feed Irish troops as a 'disgrace'.
