Controversial Greystones Development Gets Go-Ahead
The controversial redevelopment of the harbour area of Greystones in Co. Wicklow has been given the go-ahead by planning authorities.
An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for the 300 million euro marina and housing development to go ahead, but has attached 13 conditions to the plans.
The plans for the development include the marina and harbour, restaurants, shops, apartments and houses.
Protestors against the development had collected 10,000 signatures for a petition against the plans earlier this year.
Strict conditions regarding dust suppression, reuse of demolition materials, hours of operation and noise levels have been imposed and the board has also requested that any building materials used on work around the beach area must be brought in by sea, in order to minimise the impact on local roads.
