President Donald Trump In Ireland For Talks With Taoiseach Micheál Martin
The President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, visited Ireland on 12–13 September 2026, to hold a series of meetings in Dublin on Saturday morning before travelling to the Irish Open in Doonbeg.
The President paid a courtesy call on President Connelly at Áras an Uachtaráin before meeting the Taoiseach at Farmleigh House. He then attend a series of events at Deerfield, the residence of the Ambassador of the United States of America to Ireland.
President Trump then travel to Co Clare where he attended the Irish Open Golf, which this year was held at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg.
Ahead of President Trump's arrival, the Taoiseach said: "I look forward to welcoming President Trump to Ireland and to discussing the many issues of mutual interest and reaffirming the strong economic, cultural and people-to-people ties between Ireland and the United States.
"His visit comes during a remarkable sporting summer for Ireland, and the United States and this weekend's Irish Open at Trump International Doonbeg will be a fitting conclusion to an outstanding season of sport, and I hope we will see an Irish winner lifting the trophy on Sunday."

Unsafe Activity Near Gas Pipelines Logged More Than Once A Week Last Year
Gas Networks Ireland says 63 incidents of potentially unsafe activity occurred near gas transmission pipelines in 2025, averaging more than one encroachment a week, with a further 24 cases recorded between January and the end of August 2026. Landowners were responsible for 13 of the 24 instances reported so far this year.

Today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Ireland remembers the 2,977 innocent people who were killed, including at least 18 Irish citizens, and the many family members, friends and loved ones who continue to grieve.

Gardaí are appealing for information following a serious three-vehicle road traffic collision on the R132 at Smithstown, Julianstown, County Meath, shortly after 2am on Saturday 15 August 2026. A man aged in his 50s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with serious injuries and was pronounced dead on Friday 4 September 2026.

The Holmatro tools and associated kit are designed to support crews at road traffic incidents and a range of other rescue scenarios, and will phase out older petrol pump-driven systems used by all seven Clare Fire Brigades.
