Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses After Serious Ballinrobe Collision
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision on Glebe Street in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, at about 4.20pm on Thursday 20 August 2026.
Emergency services attended following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
The female pedestrian, aged in her 80s, was taken from the scene to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, with serious injuries, and remains in a critical condition.
No other injuries were reported. The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the N84/Glebe Street area between 3.50pm and 4.50pm on Thursday 20 August 2026 are asked to provide it to the investigation.
Anyone with information should contact Claremorris Garda Station on (094) 9372080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
