Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses to Fatal Road Collision Near Ballinrobe

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident that occurred outside Ballinrobe on the N84 at Carrowkeel, Co Mayo, on Wednesday 8th July.

Shortly after 9pm, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene after receiving reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle.

One of the individuals involved, a man in his mid-50s, suffered severe injuries. He was taken to University College Hospital, Galway, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The location of the crash remains preserved to allow for a forensic examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road is currently closed to traffic, and local diversions have been established.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Additionally, road users who were travelling along the N84 at Carrowkeel, Co Mayo, around the time of the incident and possess camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are requested to provide this to the investigation team.
