Garda Officer Injured After Patrol Car Rammed in Glanmire
Gardaí in Glanmire responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at an industrial estate in Glanmire on Monday afternoon, 22 June 2026, at approximately 2.20pm.
Upon arriving at the location, the occupants of the stolen vehicle rammed an official Garda patrol car. A female Garda member sustained injuries during the ramming incident. She was subsequently transported from the scene to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. No other Garda personnel were injured during the confrontation. Following the collision, the occupants of the stolen vehicle abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot. During a subsequent follow-up search of the area, two adult males were arrested by officers. They are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station within the Southern Region.
An appeal has been launched for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Investigators are particularly keen to speak with any individuals who were present in the Glanmire industrial estate on Monday afternoon, 22 June 2026, between 1.30pm and 3pm, and who may possess camera footage, including dash-cam or mobile phone recordings.
Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021 494 6200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station. The investigation remains ongoing.
