Minister McEntee Statement on Irish Citizens Detained in Israel
Minister Helen McEntee has issued a statement confirming that she is continuing to closely monitor the situation regarding Irish citizens currently held in Israeli custody.
The detained citizens are presently being held at Ktziot detention centre, following an overnight transfer from the port of Ashdod. Officials from the Irish Embassy in Tel Aviv are currently on the ground and prepared to deliver all appropriate consular support and assistance as soon as access is permitted, though consular access has not yet been granted.
It is anticipated that the citizens will be deported to Türkiye later today. Upon their arrival, they will be met by representatives from the Irish Embassy in Türkiye to ensure they receive continued support and assistance.
Teams across the Department, working alongside embassy personnel on the ground, remain intensively engaged in efforts to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of the citizens during this process.

2,300 Citizens Received Consular Assistance In 2015
More than 2,300 Irish citizens received consular assistance from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2015, it has been revealed. The assistance includes support to the families of Irish citizens who passed away while abroad last year. 263 people passed away abroad in 2015.
