Gardaí Investigate Sudden Death of Man in Castlebar

Gardaí in County Mayo have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a man in Castlebar on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

Emergency services and Gardaí were alerted to the incident shortly after 9:00am after a man in his 30s was discovered unresponsive at a residential property in the town. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The scene currently remains preserved for a technical examination, and both the local Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been formally notified.

Authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be arranged, the results of which will determine the direction of the ongoing Garda inquiry. At present, investigations are continuing and further updates are expected once the medical findings are established.
