Dublin Fire Brigade Welcomes 35 New Firefighters at Passing-Out Parade

Dublin Fire Brigade has officially welcomed 35 new recruits following a passing-out parade held at the training centre in Marino today. The event marks the conclusion of 18 weeks of rigorous training for the newest members of the brigade.

The ceremony was attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Ray McAdam, and Chief Fire Officer Greg O'Dwyer, along with senior fire officials and the families of the recruits. The parade serves as a traditional demonstration of the specialised skills the firefighters acquired during their time at the training centre.

Addressing the graduates, the Lord Mayor said: "Dublin Fire Brigade is one of the great institutions of our capital city, trusted, respected and loved by Dubliners in every community. Today, as we celebrate the members of Class 01 of 2026, we also celebrate their decision to serve this city with courage, professionalism and pride. They now join a proud tradition of public service that holds a special place in the hearts of Dubliners."

Now designated as probationary firefighters, the group will begin developing their skills through operational experience. Their professional development will continue with a two-year Paramedic programme. This qualification includes a 15-week classroom course and mentored field internships, delivered in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Chief Fire Officer Greg O'Dwyer told the new recruits: "Every one of you here today is following in the footsteps of a long line of first responders who have carried the badges of their fire service with pride and honour. You are entrusted with that duty and I am confident you will carry it out faithfully. I wish you all a long and happy career with Dublin Fire Brigade."

The expansion of the service is set to continue shortly, with a new class of recruits scheduled to begin their training in June.
