Dublin Climate Action Week 2026 Set to Inspire Regional Change

Dublin Climate Action Week (#DCAW26) returns this year with a focused programme designed to inspire individuals, communities, and businesses to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future. Running from 11th to 17th May, the week will highlight Dublin’s progress in building a cleaner, greener, and more climate-resilient region.

The initiative is a collaborative effort delivered by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council, Dublin City Council, South Dublin County Council, the Dublin Metropolitan Climate Action Regional Office (CARO), and Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency. This year’s programme features a wide array of workshops, talks, exhibitions, and community events centered on five key pillars:

• Sustainable Transport & Active Travel

• Energy Efficiency & Retrofitting

• Nature-Based Solutions & Biodiversity

• Circular Economy & Waste Reduction

• Community-Led Climate Solutions

In a joint statement launching the programme, James Phelan (DLRCC), David Storey (Fingal), Teresa Walsh (SDCC), and Patricia Reidy (DCC) said: "Climate action happens locally, and the events during Dublin Climate Action Week will empower people to make a difference. From considering small lifestyle changes to implementing large-scale policy initiatives, this week will highlight how everyone has a role in tackling the climate crisis."

All events are designed to align with Ireland’s national climate targets and the specific Climate Action Plans of the four Dublin local authorities. The week aims not only to reduce emissions but also to improve local air quality and ensure a "just transition" that supports all communities equally.

Participation is encouraged through a mix of in-person and online sessions, all of which are free and open to the public. Residents and businesses can also get involved by sharing their own climate initiatives on social media using the hashtag #DCAW26.

The full programme and registration details are available at www.dublinclimateactionweek.ie.
