One Arrested As Man Dies In Co Galway

An investigation has been launched following the death of a man in his 60s following an incident at a house in Connemara, Co Galway.

Shortly after 9am on Sunday 01 December, Gardaí were called to a house in Ballinahown, Connemara where Ambulance Service personnel were treating a man in 60s following an alleged assault. The man was removed from the scene by Ambulance to University Hospital Galway where he later passed away.

A man in his 70s was arrested following the incident and is currently detained at under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Galway Garda Station.

The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The local Coroner has been notified and the services of the State Pathologist has been requested. A post-mortem examination is to be arranged, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body in Galway city this morning. It is understood that the body of a 40-year-old local man was found at around 07:30 on Wednesday morning on Shop St. Gardaí have said that they do not believe the death to be suspicious.

Investigation Launched Into Galway Body Find
Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man's body in an apartment in Galway City. It is understood that the man's body was found by his flatmate on Monday. According to reports, the dead man is believed to be a 23-year-old from Tullamore in Co Offaly who was studying in Galway City.
