Hundreds Of Ambulance Staff Strike In Union Row

Hundreds of ambulance personnel belonging to the Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) are taking strike action today amid a dispute over union representation.

Around 500 workers are understood to be on picket lines from 7am-5pm, ahead of a further two days on Thursday 28 February and Friday 01 march.

Paramedics, advanced paramedics and emergency medical technicians are engaging in the industrial action in a bid to get the HSE to recognise their union of choice.

Health officials previously stated that they already recognise a number of unions, including SIPTU, for ambulance workers and claim that recognising further organisations will not be good for industrial relations.
