Cannabis Worth €90K Seized At Shannon Airport

Herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €90,000 has been seized at Shannon Airport.

Revenue officers uncovered the drugs, weighing 4.5 kilos, on Friday 08 February.

They were found in a parcel labelled as clothing, which originated in Spain and was destined for an address in Carlow.

Gardaí investigations into the find are ongoing.

President Higgins On Three-Day Visitation To England

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins has embarked on a three-day visit to England today, Monday 11 February.

Along with his wife Sabina, Mr Higgins will attend a series of engagements in Birmingham and Liverpool, where he will be greeted by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

Today, the President and Mrs Higgins will attend a civic reception in his honour hosted by Birmingham City Council and visit a memorial to the 21 people killed in the 1974 IRA pub bombings.

Throughout the visit he is expected to call for ties between Ireland and the UK to remain strong in the face of Brexit.

Post Malone Announces Headline Dublin Gig This Summer

Ahead of a sold out concert at Dublin's 3 Arena this Thursday, Post Malone has announced a return to Ireland for a headline show this summer.

The US rapper will play the RDS Arena on Thursday 22 August.

Tickets will be prices at €75.75 and go on sale this Friday, 15 February, from 9am at all usual Ticketmaster outlets- both online and across stores nationwide.

The singer scored a number one hit last year with his song 'Rockstar', which he performed in a medley with Californian rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers at last night's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Election 2016 To Take Place On 26 February
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed the election will take place on 26 February. Writing on Twitter, he said: "I am seeking a dissolution of Dáil Éireann today with the election to be held on February 26th." Mr Kenny and President Higgins signed the papers just after 10.30am on Wednesday. Polling stations will open 23 days from today, 03 February.

President Higgins Has 'Serious Questions' To Answer On Use Of Public Money
