Garda Injured In Operation To Stop Hijacked Taxi
A garda officer is being treated in hospital after being injured during an incident involving a hijacked taxi.
Gardaí received reports that a taxi had been hijacked on the Balbriggan Road at about 2.30am this morning, Tuesday 29 August.
The Toyota Avensis was spotted a short time later on the M50. Gardaí were able to stop the car at Mellows Crescent in Finglas.
One of the garda officers involved in the operation, suffered an arm injury and is being treated at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
Two men were arrested at the scene and are being held at Finglas Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Renewed Appeal Over Murder Of Taxi Driver
Gardaí have renewed an appeal for information on the murder of taxi driver Martin Mulligan. Mr Mulligan (53) was stabbed to death on 28 September following an altercation in Dundalk in Co Louth. It is believed the altercation began over an unpaid taxi fare.

Garda Commissioner, Ryan Tubridy and Irish Sporting Legends have launched the 'Great Garda Run 2012' at the Aviva Stadium. The event will see 100 members of An Garda Siochana participate in the Munich Marathon on Sunday 14th October 2012, in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
