Man Dies At Blarney Castle

A man has reportedly died following a fall at Blarney Castle.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 10.30am on this morning, Monday 8 May.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The castle is currently closed to tourists as emergency services and gardaí remain at the scene.

It is understood that the man was not injured while kissing the Blarney Stone, but that the incident occurred at another part of the castle. No further details have been made available.

More than 1,000 people bared all at Blarney Castle in Ireland for a mass nude photograph by an acclaimed contemporary artist from the US. The challenge took place yesterday as part of the Cork Summer Festival where volunteers stripped naked for renowned artist Spencer Tunick.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Body Found By Officers Investigating Abduction Of Jastine Valdez
Gardaí investigating the abduction of 24-year-old Jastine Valdez have discovered a body in the Pucks Castle area of Dublin The body has not yet been formally identified but garda have appealed for privacy for the Valdez family. Garda are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Former Cllr Receives Suspended Sentence
A former Fianna Fail councillor has been given a six month suspended sentence and fined €800 for being drunk, dangerous and carrying a knife. Gary O'Flynn, Of Hayfield Drive, Castle Court, had pleaded not guilty to all of the charges but was convicted in February.
